The Chicks opened their Taking the Long Way 20th anniversary tour at Detroit’s Fox Theatre on September 30, marking two decades since the release of one of the most important albums in their career.

During the opening-night performance, the group played Taking the Long Way in full, giving fans a live revisit of the 2006 album. The set included Not Ready to Make Nice, one of the record’s best-known songs, along with additional favorites from across The Chicks’ catalog.

The anniversary arrives as the trio also prepares a special reissue of Taking the Long Way. The expanded release includes extra material such as demos and bonus tracks, offering another look at the sessions behind the Grammy-winning album.

The tour is scheduled to continue across several major U.S. cities, with stops including Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Nashville, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

For The Chicks, the new tour puts the focus back on an album that remains a major part of their musical history.
